Trivia
Had not read the Harry Potter books or movies before getting the part of Tonks. Went to the audition completely last moment after getting a call from her agent, not even knowing who she was auditioning for, got there late, sweaty, and tripped into a table. The director, David Yates, laughed and by her second audition (which she was surprised to get a callback for), saw in her the same energy and personality he was looking for in Tonks.
The most fun she had filming Order of the Phoenix was the broomsticks scenes due to the enormous green screen set. She compares the broom riding machine to riding a mechanical bull.
Nat showed up for shooting Delusions of Grandeur wearing dreads, it took two days of fierce debate, crazy solutions, pleading abd bargaining to convinve Nat to comb them out. She finally agreed, and it took about three hours, a couple bottles of shampoo to get them out
Occasionally Nat and co-star Tristan fell asleep on the set of Delusions, due to the night shift
When Nat was in school, she played in Tom Stoppard’s ‘After Magritte’, which was taken as a joke, no one learning their lines, etc. Nat stole the show as the inspector, “tearing around the stage like a lunatic in a trenchcoat”
Took trapeze lessons for her role as Fevvers in the play “Nights at the Circus”
After high school, she had a scholarship to study philosophy and psychology in Australia, but didn’t end up going because of About a Boy.
Plays accordian and back-up singing in a British-based band called “Nat Jenkins and the Delmars”
Goes nude for many roles including a tableaux girl in Mrs. Henderson Presents as well as nymphomanic in an episode of “Afterlife”. She has also been a stunt double for actresses requiring nude scenes.
Has traveled a lot for her roles including to Italy, South of France, England
Left school at age 19
Attended the same school (Bedales) as Minnie Driver, Daniel Day-Lewis, Delusions of Grandeur director Marco Sandeman, colleague Sirius Flatz
